When Wedding Photos Go Bad

Your big day has come and gone. Everything went perfectly. The ceremony was grand, the speeches great, and the food and drink spectacular. You’ve just come back from your honeymoon so the next stop is the photographers to pick up your snaps and video clips of the happy day. You arrive at the photographers place only to find that your one-off shots are out of focus, heads have been cut off in portraits, and the quality of the compositions are awful.

Update Your Headshot For Only $100!

JL Images knows that your image is important to you, but time can be the enemy. Getting that vital headshot for your business card, LinkedIn profile or website update sometimes takes a lot longer than you think. It usually lands in the “I’ll get around to it later” basket, only for you to find six months down the track it is still on your to-do list.

Wedding Trends – What’s Hot For 2015

Some of us like the traditional wedding – bride in white, groom in morning suit - while others prefer something less formal like a beach setting, or maybe go to the extreme and take your vows hanging from a helicopter. However, while most fit somewhere in between, there are certain trends that hit the wedding scene throughout the year, and the next 12 months will be no different.

The Beginner’s Guide To 3D Technology

Using 3D pictures/film is going through a renaissance thanks to the ability of smart televisions to stream content and camera manufacturers developing the means by which we can take shots and shoot film. People have often asked me how a 3D camera works, so I thought I’d share with you.

A 3D camera allows you to see two-dimensional pictures in a three-dimensional settings – it is trying to replicate what your eye is seeing. So how does it work?

Tips For Taking Pet Portraits

We all love our pets, and in some cases we even prefer their company to some members of our family. And we also like to capture the essence of our pet in the snaps we take. Whether it be a cat, dog, guinea pig, rabbit or snake – we want endearing, and enduring, mementos of them. Each pet has their own distinct personality and characteristics, and we like to capture these idiosyncrasies when taking shots. We also know that, like young children, pets sometimes have minds of their own. We thought we’d put together a little guide that will hopefully make the task a little bit easier.

Compact vs DSLR Camera

I’m often asked by clients whether they should buy a compact or DSLR (digital single-lens reflex) camera, and what are the pros and cons of each device.

It comes down to several factors – what type of photographer are you? What sort of quality are you after? How much do you want to spend?

The most obvious advantages that a compact have over a DSLR are size and price. Some high-end compact cameras are very small, with reasonable functionality, and they are priced to move, while a DSLR is definitely more bulkier and can be priced in the $1000+ bracket.

Junior Photobooth – Great Fun For Kids

Every kid loves a good party, and they also love a great surprise. Having a jumping castle or a clown visit can be fun, but also a little bit too predictable. How about thinking a little bit outside the square? How about getting one of the world’s first Junior Photobooth? That’s right, it is a baby photobooth designed for kids up to eight years old where they cannot only have a tonne of fun, but also provide you with some lasting memories and an instant keepsake.
