Recommended Wedding Venues #2- Dockside Group

Sydney’s Dockside Group has several venues located literally within a stone’s throw of Sydney Harbour. They have five venues scattered throughout the CBD including three settings at The Rocks, two at Cockle Bay Wharf and another at Darling Harbour.

As with any premium wedding venue, Dockside does its best to take advantage of Sydney’s world-renown harbour with stunning effectiveness. Each venue offers a unique insight into what makes Sydney one of the most desirable cities in the world.

Dockside Cockle Bay Wharf
A brisk walk or minute’s drive from Sydney’s CBD, Dockside’s Cockle Bay Wharf has several rooms that can cater for groups in size from 10 to 1000. As with all of Dockside’s venues, premium views are the bait that attracts would-be brides and grooms to the sweeping panoramas of Darling Harbour and beyond. Refitted recently by interior designer Michael McCann, Cockle Bay Wharf offers up a myriad of opportunities when it comes to getting those one-of-a-kind wedding snaps.

L’Aqua
Sitting on the roof of Cockle Bay Wharf, L’Aqua offers a premium vantage point at which to benefit from its stupendous views of the Darling Harbour and Cockle Bay. With its floor-to-ceiling windows and two choices of décor (the Gold Room and Terrace Room) there is plenty of room for scope and innovative shots with these dual settings that sit atop the Wharf.

Waterfront
As the name suggests, Waterfront is situated on the Waterfront of Sydney Harbour with unobstructed views of two of Sydney’s world famous landmarks – the Harbour Bridge and Opera House. Could there be any better backdrops for pictures on your wedding day? Set in the original Campbell's Storehouses built in 1839, its rustic look is complemented by the aforementioned views, and comes with three different levels with a variety of rooms in which to hold your wedding.

Wolfies
Like its cousin, the The Waterfront, Wolfies offers unparalleled views of Sydney’s Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Situated in the Rocks precinct, the venue offers up contemporary Australian cuisine and a variety of rooms from which to choose. Most have mahogany floors and exposed timber beams, which are an attractive backdrop to wedding photos.

Italian Village
Once again offering fantastic views of the Sydney Harbour, Italian Village brings a little bit of Europe to your special day. One of Dockside Groups more intimate venues, it comes with terracotta and sandstones walls, timber detailing and a talented team of chefs to make your wedding day feast one to remember.

Dockside Pavilion
A place at sea when you’re not at sea! This floating pavilion is Sydney’s largest of its kind. Depending on its configuration it can hold between 1400-2000 people. This setting would be suitable for the wedding of all weddings, although to be fair it has been designed for more commercial events. Even so, tying the knot at such a prestigious location would be an event to remember.

As with all the settings in our series on wedding venues, JL Images has an intimate knowledge of all these venues and is more than happy to offer recommendations on what will best suit your bridal party when it comes to the wedding shoot.
